About Us

Union County Senior Democrats (UCSD) was launched as a chapter of the NC Senior Democrats, an affiliate of the North Carolina Democratic Party. The chapter was founded by Ernest Walker, along with a small team of individuals who were passionate about establishing a senior advocacy presence throughout the county.

Over the years, UCSD evolved into an organization that is:

  • empowering seniors to take responsibility for getting involved in the political process to ensure they have a voice in issues that affect them, and
  • equipping our members with the tools they need to promote voter education and mobilization initiatives to defend our democracy.

UCSD is committed to ensuring our members are knowledgeable about issues that impact them and our Union County community at large. With a wide range of topics covered, we have a robust monthly meeting speaker program of educational presentations that address the varying interests of our members.

Following primary elections, we invite all Democratic candidates to share their position on the issues and explain how our organization and individual members can help with their campaigns. In support of the candidates' financial needs, we use monies from fundraisers to make financial contributions to the candidates.
